Artistic director Alex Raineri is joined in recital by one of Australia’s most cherished sopranos, Sara Macliver.

The notion of ‘journey’ is a fundamental facet of the extraordinary effect that music can have over us as humans, storytelling through sound that manifests in emotionally impactful and powerfully subjective ways. Using the theme of ‘Journeys’, this program tells many stories.

Gretchen’s musings on Faust as she sits at the spinning wheel begins a bracket of songs by Franz Schubert which is complemented by Ravel’s gorgeous Greek Songs and Joseph Canteloube’s breathtakingly beautiful depictions of the French countryside in his Songs of the Auvergne. Some popular favourites bring the performance to a close with tunes from My Fair Lady, Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess, and songs by Cole Porter, Sting and Leonard Cohen.

Ticket price includes a complementary drink and light refreshments after the performance.
