SXS

SXS in the QPAC Concert Hall, February 2020

Jean Francaix: Divertimento

Erik Satie (arr. Frazer): 3 Gnossiennes

Maurice Ravel: Tzigane

Edith Piaf: La Vie en Rose

Claude Debussy: Beau Soir

Claude Debussy: Nuit d’etoiles

Jules Massenet: Meditation from Thais

Camille Saint-Saens (arr. Frazer): Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso

A gorgeous selection of music from 19th and 20th century France, ‘La Vie en Rose’ features the Brisbane-based members of the Southern Cross Soloists; Tania Frazer, Jonathan Henderson, Alan Smith and BMF artistic director Alex Raineri.

From the playful flurries of Francaix’s Divertimento, the virtuosity of Ravel’s fiendishly difficult Tzigane, and the sensuality of Edith Piaf’s iconic La Vie en Rose the program traverses both familiar and lesser known gems of the French repertoire.

Since 1995, Southern Cross Soloists has established itself as one of Australia’s pre-eminent chamber music ensembles. As a collective of established soloists from across Australia, the SXS create dynamic experiences in their regularly sold-out three-concert subscription series as Company in Residence at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre and at the annual Bangalow Music Festival, in addition to multiple interstate, regional, and international performances.
