
Bethany Simons is an award-winning writer and performer hailing from regional NSW. She creates character and story-based performance works and has performed in venues ranging from Melbourne Recital Centre to Pyramid Hill Memorial Hall.
Her original stage productions, The Weather and Your Health and Reception: The Musical, received numerous industry nominations and awards, including Best Cabaret at the 2014 Melbourne Fringe Awards. Both works were selected for the VCE Drama Playlist and toured to more than 60 venues around Australia.
In 2012, Bethany received the State Touring Award for ‘outstanding contribution to regional arts and culture’ in recognition of her grass-roots community engagement which always involves supper and a space for audiences to share stories.
Bethany has collaborated with festivals and companies around the country including Australian National Academy of Music (Seraglio; Figaro), Melbourne Youth Music (Musical Fairy Tales; Chicken Run), Milk Crate Theatre (Interim 2.0) and Southern Cross Soloists (Peta and the Wolf). An active teaching artist, she conducts writing, storytelling, vocal and drama workshops across education, arts and community settings. She has also been narrator and voice-over artist for live concerts, broadcasts and podcasts.
Bethany has an Honours degree in the BA (Acting for Screen and Stage) from Charles Sturt University, Wagga Wagga. Her COVID-19 story was featured on the ABC program, ‘New Normal’ and her original kids web series, ‘Simons Says’, can be found on her website: bethanysimons.com
