Daniel Shearer’s most heartfelt objective is to impassion and uplift audiences. In 2022 he completed his Bachelors at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music in cello performance where he was additionally awarded the Vada Jefferies Bach prize. Daniel grew up performing for possums on his back deck but has since garnered a growing audience from festival appearances, recitals and competitions in Australia, Portugal and America. He has performed in festivals under the tutelage of such cellists as Pieter Wispelwey, Astrid Schween, Bion Tsang, Ani Aznavoorian and David Finckel. As a soloist he has performed with the Queensland Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra with Peter Luff, and with Corda Spiritus with Chen Yang. As well as solo work, Daniel is a committed chamber musician having performed with faculty members of the Queensland Conservatorium and in the 2022 season of the Brisbane Music Festival. Arranging music is also a major interest for Daniel as he looks for new ways to present works from the classical canon. Most notably and recently he debuted his arrangement of Dvorak’s Cello Concerto in B minor for String Quintet and solo cello.
Daniel Shearer’s appearance in the 2023 Brisbane Music Festival is supported by Philip Bacon Galleries.
