Brisbane-based clarinettist Dario Scalabrini recently graduated from the Queensland Conservatorium as the 2019 recipient of the Brisbane Club Award’s Jim Massie Memorial Prize. Dario has quickly established himself as a passionate and energetic musician in recital, chamber and orchestral settings. Recent engagements have seen him perform with the Queensland Pops Orchestra in their NYE Gala Concerts, in Opera Queensland’s production of Verdi’s Requiem at the HOTA theatre in the Gold Coast and in Expressions Dance Company’s ‘Converge’. Dario has also been a featured artist in the Lord Mayor’s Brisbane City Hall and the St John’s Cathedral chamber music series.

During his time at the Queensland Conservatorium Dario studied with the renowned soloist and former Queensland Symphony Orchestra principal clarinettist Paul Dean. As an emerging artist, Dario has been invited to perform in masterclasses with esteemed international clarinettists such as Sabine Meyer, Andrew Marriner and Julian Bliss. In 2020 Dario is excited to be performing across diverse mediums as both a Brisbane Music Festival Young Artist and a Southern Cross Soloists Next Generation Artist.
