
Australian-American harpist Emily Granger has performed around the world as Guest Principal Harp with the Chicago, Queensland, Sydney and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Orchestra Victoria, and Opera Australia Orchestra and given chamber recitals at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage, Sydney Opera House Utzon Room and UKARIA. Since moving from the United States in 2015, she has firmly established herself in the Australian music scene, both in the concert hall and in the studio, with a busy schedule as a solo, chamber, and orchestral musician.
Emily released her debut solo album, In Transit, in 2022 on UK-based AVIE Records. Selected as Featured Album on ABC Classic and 2MBS Fine Music Sydney, BBC Music Magazine praised the album as “beautiful” and Limelight Magazine as “an impressive debut.” The album has received more than three million streams since its release. Emily was a Finalist in the 2021 Art Music Awards for Performance of the Year for her interpretation of Ross Edwards’ solo, The Harp and The Moon, and a finalist in the 2022 Freedman Classical Fellowship.
Recent performance highlights include appearances with Ensemble Offspring, guitarist Andrew Blanch, percussionist Claire Edwardes, Sydney Dance Company, Australian Debussy Trio, Nexas Quartet, Sydney Art Quartet, Sydney Chamber Choir, Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Australian Brandenburg Orchestra, Brisbane Philharmonic Orchestra and many more, in performances for Melbourne Recital Centre, Musica Viva Australia, Musica Viva Tasmania, Sydney Fringe Festival, Orange Chamber Music Festival, Music in the Regions, Bellingen Muse, and more.
Hailing from Kansas City, Missouri, Emily studied at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University and Chicago College of the Performing Arts. Following her studies, she served as Principal Harp in the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and is a founding member of the Chicago Harp Quartet.
As an avid hiker, Emily has walked the 3,000 kilometre Te Araroa across New Zealand, 900 kilometres across Spain on the Camino de Santiago, as well as California’s 400 kilometre John Muir Trail.
Emily is represented by Tier 1 Arts, and plays a Lyon & Healy Salzedo harp.
