
After juggling work life as a pharmacist and musician, Jonny Ng happily hung up his lab coat nine years ago to solely follow his passion: music. He is Principal Second Violin, Artistic Associate, and Education Manager of Camerata – Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra (since 2008), pianist in Entourage for Musica Viva In Schools show March of the Fire Ants (since 2011), and has performed/conducted/toured nationally and abroad with Queensland Ballet, Opera Queensland, Expressions Dance Company, Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Bruce Springsteen, The Cat Empire, Katie Noonan, Kate Miller-Heidke, Neil Finn, Lior, Michael Bolton, Eskimo Joe, Gurrumul, Naomi Price, Luke Kennedy, The Whitlams, Conchita Wurst, Wizard of Oz, My Fair Lady directed by Julie Andrews, The Lion King, The Angels, Lea Salonga, Megan Hilty, Anglican Schools Music Festival, Collusion, Australian Youth Orchestra, and Queensland Youth Symphony.
A regular feature at festivals, he has performed as soloist and chamber musician at the Australian Festival of Chamber Music, 4MBS Festival of Classics, Festival of Tibet, Queensland Music Festival, Brisbane Festival, Woodford Folk Festival, Blues and Roots Festival, Bangalow Music Festival, Mullum Music Festival, Restrung Festival, and Crossbows Festival.
As a passionate educator, Jonny is Strings Co-ordinator (conductor of 4 string ensembles, Year 3 and 4 Strings Program director, upper strings teacher), piano and theory teacher, and accompanist for choirs and recitals at St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School. He runs a private home studio, facilitates string workshops throughout Queensland, is an AMEB Strings Examiner, tutors for Queensland Youth Orchestras, and is a committee member of the AUSTA Q (Australian Strings Association Queensland).
