It is my extreme pleasure to be curating the first iteration of the Brisbane Music Festival running from the 9th to 16th of December, 2018.
From the music of Bach to the music of today, this festival was born from a desire to present concerts of music that I am passionate about alongside some of Australia’s leading arts practitioners in intimate settings throughout the city of Brisbane.
It encompasses a cultural offering to the city of Brisbane whose ultimate aim is that of contributing vibrancy to the fabric of the Australian arts scene. In addition to presenting much loved works from the classical canon, there is a dual focus on the commissioning of new Australian works.
The 2018 festival features six concerts alternating between venues in Milton and New Farm featuring works by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Schumann, Gershwin, Sondheim, Kurtag, Janacek, Bartok, Messiaen, Morton Feldman, Chris Dench, Samantha Wolf, Lisa Cheney, Kate Moore, Damien Ricketson, Enno Poppe and James Ledger.
I hope you can join us for the festivities!
Alex Raineri (artistic director)
